Maiden's Lament
This tendency, during those years,
when we were all children
being alone a lot was pleasant;
For others, time elapsed in conflict,
and one had one’s own side,
One’s proximity, one’s vastness,
a way, an animal, an image.
And I still thought that life
would never cease giving,
that one could always turn within.
Am I not at my greatest within myself?
Shall my own nature no longer soothe
and comprehend me,
as it did when I was a child?
All of a sudden I feel abandoned
and this loneliness becomes
gargantuan for me.
When standing upon the hills of my breasts,
my emotion cries out for wings
or for an end.
