Divided India
India, a land of diversity,
where cultures meet and merge,
is today divided by hatred and fear,
where tolerance is being tested.
fanatics, with their rage,
seem to have forgotten Gandhi’s teachings:
nonviolence and love for one’s neighbor,
have been replaced by hatred and violence.
Minorities, like dry leaves,
have been swept away by the winds of intolerance,
their voices have been silenced,
and their lives have been turned upside down.
But there is still hope,
there is still love and compassion,
there is still the possibility for change,
to rediscover the path of tolerance and love.

ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും ഇറ്റാലിയിലും കവിതകളും കഥകളും എഴുതുന്ന ഉഷാ ജോർജ്, ‘സോളോ അമോറിസ് ‘, ‘ഹൃദയ സ്പന്ദനം’ എന്നീ കഥാ സമാഹാരങ്ങളും ‘പൂനിലാവ്’ എന്ന കവിതാ സമാഹാരവും ‘ചിന്തയുടെ ചിന്തേരുകൾ’ എന്ന ലേഖന സമാഹാരവും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
